Mission: We Care 2010 
(Misi Kami Peduli 2010)  


Introduction 
Mission: We Care! is an annual overseas community involvement program conducted by NUS Indonesian Students’ Association which inspire to create and channel students aspirations to those in Indonesia who need a helping hand. Since the year of its establishment, 2008, we have been focusing our project in developing rural areas in Indonesia in terms of educational development and/or infrastructure enhancement.  


Objectives of the activity 
a. To build a rapport between NUS students and the less fortunate in East Java 
b. To share our time and resources with the beneficiary. 
c. To rekindle a heart of compassion to the less fortunate as a manifestation of care and concern to the society. 
d. To share gifts, talents, experiences and life soft skills that is deemed as useful for the learning of the beneficiary.
 


Misi Kami Peduli 2010 (MKP2010)

a. When? 5th – 11th December 2010  
b. Where? Sapikerep Village, Sukapura, Probolinggo, East Java  
c. What?
    1. Training villagers on chicken farming


  • Objective: 
    • Equip villagers with technical skills, theoretical knowledge, and information about funding necessary for starting chicken farming business
  • Details:
    • Donating around more than 250 chicks as one form of initial capital injection
    • Chicks will be donated to a primary school. Profit from chicken farming will be fully utilized by the school for re-investment or other school enhancement activities
    • Henhouse will be built and equipped with necessary tools such as heater and water installation
    • Donating sufficient fodder to be eaten by the chickens for around 40 days. Forty days is deemed enough for a chicken to be sold
  • Expected results:
    • Providing a brand new perspective to villagers on modern chicken farming and how it will benefit them
    • Assisting villagers in Microloans applications as the nature and required skills needed have been acknowledged and learnt

    2. Science Enrichment Program

    • Objective:
      • Aimed to nurture interest in science subjects since young age
    • Details:
      • Experiment-oriented science classes will be conducted in a public primary school an be directly applied, simple, yet relevant
      • Experiments will be conducted during class or as a part of after school program
      • All volunteers are expected to gain teaching experience and have plenty of interactions with the students
    • Expected results:
      • Students understand simple concept on science
      • Develop deeper knowledge and most importantly, skills and interests in Science
      • Providing a new perspective for villagers that Science are meant to be learnt by everyone, not only those attending school at big cities
